Aloo Posto / Potato With Poppy Seeds Gravy ( Vegetarian Recipe )

 


Ingredients :


1.Potato - 2  


2.Whole  Kalojeera / Nigella Seeds - 1/2  tea spoon


3.Poppy  Seeds  Paste / Posto  Bata - 2 table spoon


4.Salt  to  taste 


5.Sugar - 1/2 tea spoon


6.Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tea spoon


7.Green chilli paste - 1 tea spoon


8.Green  Chilli Slice - 2 pieces


9. Mustard  Oil   As  required


10.Water - 1 1/2 cup




Method :

1.Step -1  , wash  and  peel  the  potato and  cut  the  potatoes  into  cubes pieces  . Keep aside .


2.Step - 2 , Now  add oil in a pan .Heat  for  oil 2 - 3 minutes . Temper  the oil  ,  add 1/2 tea spoon  whole  Nigella seeds   and  fry for few  seconds .


3. Step - 3 , Now  add potato cubes into the pan  , slice 2 pieces green  chili ,  add salt  to taste and mix well . Saute for  2 -3 minutes . Close  the  lid  and  Medium heat .


4.Step - 4 , After 5 minutes ,when potatoes are half cooked . Open  the cover , now  add  1/2  tea spoon  turmeric  powder , sugar  1  tea spoon , poppy  seeds paste  2  table spoon   and  green  chili paste 1 tea spoon .Saute for   all spices  2 -3  minutes . Now  add 1  cup  of water  and  mix  well . Cover and  close lid  and  medium  heat .  Cook for 10 minutes . Aloo posto  is  a  very dry dish . Cook till the gravy  becomes  thick  .  When water is evaporated  from the curry . Now  add  1 table spoon  mustard  oil . Mix it very well . Switch  off the flame . 


5. Serve  with hot steam  rice .
