Tangra Macher Jhal / Tangra Fish With Mustard And Poppy Seeds Gravy

Ingredients :

1. Tangra Fish - 300 gm ( about 4 pieces )

2. Salt To Taste

3. Turmeric Powder as required

4. Poppy Seeds Paste - 1 tea spoon

5. Mustard Seeds Paste - 3 table spoon

6. Green Chili paste - 2 tea spoon

7. Slit Green Chili - 1 pieces

8. Water as required

9. Nigella seeds (  kalonji / kalo jeera  )  - 1/3 tea spoon

10. Mustard oil as required

Method :

1. Step - 1 , Tangra fish cleaned and wash . Drain out all the water completely and then mix it with 1 table spoon salt and 1 table spoon turmeric powder . Rub all over fish cover and marinate . Keep aside for about 15 - 20 minutes .

2. Step - 2 , Now add oil in a wok . When oil heated or when it start smoking add 2 pieces fish . Fry on both sides till light golden color . ( please do not over fry ) . fry  remaining steaks in the same way except do not add oil .

3. Step - 3 , Now remaining oil , add Slit green chili whole  kalonji / Nigella seeds / kalo jeera , when whole  kalonji seeds begin crackling . Now add fried tangra fish and add 2 cup water . Mix well . Now add Mustard Seeds paste  3 table spoon , Poppy Seeds Paste 1 tea spoon , Green Chili paste 2 tea spoon , salt to taste , and turmeric powder 1/3 tea spoon . Mix very well . Stir occasionally . Cook till tangra fish are tender . ( about 10 - 15 minutes ) .

4. Step - 4 , Now Switch off flame . Then add 2 tea spoon mustard oil ( optional ) . Mix very well .Transfer to a serving plate .

5. Serve  hot with steamed rice .
